I woke up this morning and the world was spinning. Not the kind of spinning I casually talk about when life gets crazy. I mean the room was actually moving, and it was for most of the morning. Vertigo is no joke. It was challenging to stand up and even lay down. I have had it happen before so it didn’t necessarily scare me, but it did make my morning a little slower getting started for now it is the afternoon and my head is still not completely clear. I tried to stand up, but I couldn’t trust my own balance. I reached for something solid because I needed something—anything—that wasn’t moving. So I decided to just lay there, I couldn’t help but think about how much this feels like life sometimes. There have been seasons when everything seems to spin out of control all at once. The things I thought were secure suddenly weren’t. Plans change. People change. Circumstances change. The future feels uncertain. And through it all there are times I find myself lying awake, wondering, What is happening? How am I supposed to navigate this? This morning, my body reminded me of something my heart so often forgets: I was never in control to begin with. To others that may be a frightening thought but I have come to see that is actually where my peace begins. As I pray I am often reminded of what is written in *Psalms 40:2 He brought me up out of a horrible pit [of tumult and of destruction], out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock, steadying my footsteps and establishing my path.* Because when I can’t hold myself steady, God can. When I can’t see clearly, God can. When I don’t know what is coming next, God already does. I am thankful for what is written in *Psalms 16:8 I have set the Lord continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.* as well as what is written in *Psalms 46:1 God is our Refuge and Strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble.* A very present help. Not a distant God watching from far away. Not a God who waits for me to get myself together. He is present. Right here. In the fear. In the moments of uncertainty. In the questions. In the spinning. It is written in *Isaiah 41:10  Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.* I will uphold you. Those words hit differently when you’re physically trying to keep yourself from falling. Maybe that’s what I needed to hear this morning. I don’t have to have the strength to hold everything together. Because He promises to hold me. And then I thought about Peter stepping out of the boat. He took his eyes off Jesus and looked at the wind and the waves—and suddenly what he was standing on didn’t feel so secure. I’ve been there and I am sure there may be a few who read what I write that are living in a state of uncertainty this very moment. We look at the circumstances instead of the Savior, and suddenly everything feels bigger than our faith. But Jesus didn’t abandon Peter in the waves. He reached for him. And that’s the hope I want to hold onto today. Jesus still reaches. So if your world feels like it’s spinning today, maybe you don’t need another answer. Maybe you just need to remember Who is holding your hand. I don’t know how this day will unfold for me or anyone else. I don’t know why my body woke up this way. I don’t know what the rest of today holds, much less tomorrow. But I know this: God’s got me. And He has you too. The ground beneath us may feel unsteady. Our circumstances may change without warning. Our hearts may tremble. But our God does not move. So today, I’m going to breathe. I’m going to slow down. I’m going to reach out to Jesus with all that I am. And I’m going to trust that even when I can’t find my balance, I am still being held in His hands of grace and mercy. The world may spin. Life may spin. My circumstances may spin. But God is still God. And that gives me hope. It is written in *Psalms 56:3 What time I am afraid, I will have confidence in and put my trust and reliance in You.* Today, that’s my prayer. Not that I won’t be afraid. Not that I will understand everything. But that when I am afraid, I will trust Him. Because I may not be able to control what is happening around me. But I know the One who holds me in the middle of it. And for today, that’s enough.

My BeLoved, may the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus, the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
