Have you ever heard those very impactful words that everyone who is deeply struggling to make it through the day needs to hear? Those three words that can help change a person’s life forever? Those three words that bring hope, assurance, and the feelings of brotherly love? Not the words “I love you”, “never give up” or “believe you can” but instead, “I got you.” When people are hurting, they tend to overthink. Many people are so guarded that they won’t let others in, even people who have been through a similar situation or have had some life experience that may help. Sometimes, the greatest blessing God can give us in the middle of our struggle is simply someone willing to stand beside us and say, “You don’t have to carry this alone.” There are moments when a person’s faith is weak, their heart is weary, and their mind is overwhelmed, and that is when genuine love can become the hands and feet of Christ. Sometimes “I got you” is more than a comforting phrase; it is a commitment to remain present when the storm gets loud and the road becomes difficult. It is a reminder that God often uses people to answer prayers we were too exhausted to put into words. When someone says I see you, I’m not judging you, I’m not leaving you, and I’m willing to walk through this with you while we seek Jesus together is life changing. To see another with no personal interest be faithful action, sacrificial love, and have an unwavering commitment to help is rare these days. As I get older, I have learned to appreciate honesty, integrity, but most of all loyalty. I appreciate those individuals that have been by my side when my life came tumbling down, those who have brought a torch when I was in my darkest moments of despair. I often pray about what is written in *Galatians 5:13 For you, my brothers and sisters, were called to freedom; only do not let your freedom become an opportunity for the sinful nature (worldliness, selfishness), but through love serve and seek the best for one another.* I genuinely care about people, probably a little too much at times, and definitely care about others in a way that I have rarely experienced, mostly because I realize how much it is actually needed. I don’t have ulterior motives, I don’t have an agenda, I just want to help others be drawn closer to the Lord Jesus. I liken to the words of Charles Spurgeon, “Friendship is one of the sweetest joys of life. Many might have failed beneath the bitterness of their trial had they not found a friend.” Dear hearers, I know that the weight of the world is heavy at times, but when you are at an impasse, reach out to me and we will seek the Lord to find a breakthrough together and  I will help you praise God in your storm. And if you are the one who sees someone else struggling, don’t simply walk past their pain; reach out, listen, pray, and remind them that they are loved by God and not forgotten. Let us become the kind of people who don’t just speak about God’s love but demonstrate it through our presence, patience, compassion, and willingness to serve. Let us be willing to sit in the uncomfortable places with one another, offering encouragement when someone cannot find the strength to encourage themselves and intentionally be the hands and feet of the Lord Jesus. Because sometimes inclusion means making room at the table for the hurting, application means putting our faith into action, and love means refusing to let someone face the battle alone. “I got you.” 

Lord Jesus, please give Your children the eyes to recognize those who are hurting, the courage to reach toward them, and the strength to stand beside them when they feel they cannot stand on their own. Please use all of us as an instrument of Your love, mercy, and compassion, and let our lives continually point others toward You when they are walking through their darkest storms. Father, I plead with You to help us become a people who truly live out “I got you,” not merely with our words, but through faithful action, sacrificial love, and an unwavering heart of commitment to one another. In Jesus’ precious and powerful name, Amen.
