I realize that with a little more grace from God, I am probably 3/4 of the way through my life, unless something completely unexpected happens. The one thing that I contemplate on a regular basis is what kind of legacy I will leave behind. Will it be a legacy that reflects Christ or that of the cares and concerns of the world? I confess that I am not what people see all the time when I am out and about. I am a man who does not fear God enough, love God enough, or am obedient to what God has called me to do, enough. There have been many days that only God and I know about, where I have let my heart stray, my mind wander, my worries overtake me, my actions bring shame to the name of the Lord Jesus. Yet, even in those moments, I am reminded that God is not finished with me, and His mercy continues to meet me in the places where I have fallen short. He calls me back to the narrow path, not because I have earned another opportunity, but because His grace is greater than my failures. Every morning is another invitation to surrender my heart, renew my mind, and walk more faithfully with the Savior who has never abandoned or forsaken me. I want my life to become less about what people think of me and more about whether Christ can be seen in the way I love, serve, forgive, and persevere. I pray that when my journey is nearing its end, the evidence of God’s transforming work in me will speak louder than the evidence of my shortcomings. I pour out to others and not let them pour into me because it is safer and easier, with less chance of my heart being hurt as it has been so many times before. The words that I want to hear the most about me are also the words that I know deep within that I am not worthy to say written in *2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good and worthy and noble fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith [firmly guarding the gospel against error].* I have come to understand that how I will be remembered will only matter to a few, but the legacy that I leave behind will affect more people than I can ever imagine and will never be forgotten by God one way or another. Today, I am choosing to do all that I can to live a life that focuses on having the character and attributes of the Lord Jesus, the conviction of God’s word, and the compassion of the Holy Spirit. And I do not want this calling to be mine alone, because every one of us has a place in the work God is doing in this generation. Whether our influence reaches thousands or only the few people God has placed within our daily path, our lives can still become a testimony of His grace and truth. Let us encourage one another, carry one another when the road becomes difficult, and remind one another that the race is worth finishing. May our homes be our churches, our friendships be genuine, our service be surrendered, and our everyday choices become places where the love of Jesus is unmistakably present. My friends, as I consider my legacy before Almighty God please consider yours as well before it is too late. Charles Spurgeon said, “It is only serving God that is doing immortal work; it is only living for Christ that is living at all.” I am not sure about anyone else but I genuinely wrestle with how I will stand before Christ at the end of my life because of what is written in *1 Corinthians 3:12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.* While we are alive on earth, we must serve the Lord, for in the end all else is wood, hay, and stubble that will be burned up.

My BeLoved, may the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus, the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
