“Jesus loves you” is a phrase that many use, and “I love Jesus” is the general response. Love is not easy. The one affection that most people never get enough of is love; and one of the most challenging feelings to intentionally give to another, is love, mostly because we are selfish individuals. Pure love can be expressed where one person loves another person to the best of their own ability, in spite of the flaws, and doesn’t expect anything in return. This is rare, but it is the best and truest form of love and affection. We know how much Jesus loved us by His ultimate sacrifice of willingly going to the cross for each and every one of us. But what about our love for Him? Jesus made a statement that challenges me as a man desiring to be pleasing to Him. It is written in *John 14:15 If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands.* We are also reminded again of this as we look at what is written in *1 John 5:3 For the [true] love of God is this: that we habitually do His commands [keep His ordinances and are mindful of His precepts and teaching]. And these orders of His are not irksome (burdensome, oppressive, or grievous).* We can say that we cherish Him, that we adore Him, we can act like our love for Him is unconditional and eternal, we can say that we love Jesus, but the question that we all need to ask ourselves is, “Do our actions match our words?” Are we truly living out what is written about Love in 1 Corinthians 13? For some of you, it is your favorite section of scripture and yet it is also the scripture that so few live out. I read, “Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” My friends, I have come to the experience that I feel most alive when I love Jesus the way that He has loved me, sacrificially.

Douglas, this is so spot on! Thank You for sharing !
