When Jesus saved me I was wounded by a heartless world and standing at the gates of hell. Looking back, I can see God’s fingerprints in just about every aspect of my life prior to that moment, and for that I am forever thankful. For some reason nothing in life seemed to ever come easy to me, most of the time it was because of my poor and ungodly choices. I grew up simple and became a simple man. I was never one to chase after wealth or fame or riches, mostly because I never thought I could achieve them anyway. I never felt that I was good enough for any of that or for anyone. I have always had to work hard to make ends meet, even now life can be a challenge at times. I find it easy to relate to the early disciples where they knew that the only way they were going to survive was by the hand of God. For those that can’t tell, I am by no means a great theologian. I have had no formal training in ministry. No seminary. I am just a guy who loves Jesus as much as I can because I know that He loves me more than anyone else ever loved me. I want to know Him more so that I can make Him known more genuinely. Some who read what I write may not comprehend that the Lord has taught me far more through brokenness, pain, and suffering than I ever could have learned by relying on my own understanding. Every trial became another reminder that His grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in weakness. I have discovered through His word that He delights in using ordinary people so that no one can mistake His power for our own. If my story points to anything good, it points to the mercy of Christ and not to anything I have accomplished. My prayer has never been that people would remember my name, but that they would never forget the name of the Lord Jesus’. I have some friends that came to Jesus around the same time that I did and can see how God gave His Holy Spirit to other simple men in great abundance. I was a mechanic, a friend was a concrete mason, one a trash truck driver, and another friend was making t-shirts. We all had one thing in common: we always gave glory to God, remembered all the things that He did for us, and told as many others as we could what God did in our lives. One thing I feel I need to tell the world is that I will always remember where I’ve been, going the wrong direction, and I never want to go back to being that person ever again. I know what kind of person I was before coming to Jesus, and that is why I am thankful for what is written in *Psalm 91:8 You will only be a spectator as you look on with your eyes and witness the divine repayment of the wicked as you watch safely from the shelter of the Most High.* Penitence or repentance is not the action of a moment; it is the turning around of a life, it is the rejection of sin brought about by the gracious work of the Holy Spirit. There are many things wrong with the world today, and one of the most impactful has been that people have put their Bibles away and allowed dust to gather on them. The closer we get to the Lord’s return, the more important it is to open them up again. Patrick Henry, who said, “Give me liberty, or give me death!” also wrote in his last will and testament, “I have now given everything I own to my children. There is one more thing I wish I could give them and that is Christ. Because if they have everything I gave them and don’t have Christ, they have nothing.” Whether your hands have labored in a shop, an office, a classroom, a field, or in the quiet faithfulness of your own home, the invitation of Jesus Christ is the same. The ground is level at the foot of the cross, where every sinner who repents can find forgiveness, every weary soul can find rest, and every believer can find purpose in serving the King. May we stand together with humility, conviction, and unwavering faith until the day we see our Savior face to face. May the words of our mouths proclaim with boldness to any who will listen, “He’s Alive!” and may the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ cause us all to abound unto every good work for the glory of the Father by the power of the Holy Spirit. My prayer is that I never grow weary in proclaiming the Gospel, for the hope I have in Christ is the very hope this broken world so desperately needs. And when my race is finished, may it be said that I remained faithful, kept my eyes fixed on Jesus, and gave Him all the glory, for He alone is worthy forever and ever. Amen

My BeLoved, may the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus, the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
