Today is a really good day to pray fervently for our nation. I realize that every day is, but as of recently we are seeing more division caused by pride and selfishness than I can ever remember. We have been conditioned to believe that following Lord Jesus is fanatical, that the Bible is a book of fairytales, independent thought is ignorant, and that caring is weakness. We as a nation have been at a crossroads for many years where it comes to God, politics, and understanding absolute truth according to our document of authority, the Word of God. America has twisted many of the words of the Bible to make it look like God says it’s ok to do whatever we want and the one thing that is being done that is close to my heart is the desire to kill preborn humans. As believers, we are called to speak the truth in love, even when that truth is unpopular or misunderstood. We are to stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves. Silence in the face of moral confusion only allows deception to grow stronger. As Christians our hope should never rest in the hands of political leaders or institutions, but in the unchanging character and promises of God. The Church must be a light in the darkness, demonstrating both conviction and compassion to a world searching for hope. We should never be ashamed of standing for what God has declared to be true, even when it comes at a personal cost. Abortion is one of today’s top issues according to polls, and it condones the killing of an innocent pre-born baby. To be clear, Abortion is immoral, unethical, and cannot ever be justified, and yet approximately 50% of this country supports it. Time and time again God has met the needs of the United States when we maintained some honor, integrity, and repentance before Him, but I believe that a change is coming. We are seeing certain Bible verses play out before our eyes like what is written in *Isaiah 5:20 Woe (judgment is coming) to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!* When we stand before God and look back over our recent history and all the atrocities, many will be ashamed of the way they stood by and did nothing. Because of the love of sin, the majority of the world will pay the consequences for their actions or inaction. Many will hang their heads in shame when they realize the evil they defended, and the heroes they ridiculed. Those who profess Jesus as Lord cannot condone abortion no matter what some people tell you. Abortion is NOT women’s reproductive right, it is murder of a fellow human. An individual made in God’s image. Reproduction needs to be thought about before going to bed, not on the surgical table. We must stand for truth, we must stand for life as children of God. I realize that for some this has been difficult to read, but I do want everyone who has been involved in abortion in any way to understand that there is grace, God’s undeserved favor, and forgiveness for you if you confess and ask for it. He will comfort your heart and give you peace. My prayer is that every person, regardless of their past, would come to know the transforming love, mercy, and truth found in the Lord Jesus Christ. May we be a people who welcome those seeking forgiveness while never compromising the truth of God’s Word. I ask you to pray for our nation, our leaders, our churches, and our families, that we would repent, seek the Lord with humble hearts, and choose life before it is too late. Before we celebrate the freedoms and blessings of the Fourth of July, we should also take time to mourn the countless children who will never have the opportunity to experience those freedoms because of abortion. As we gather with family and friends, may we remember the lives that were never given the chance to celebrate a birthday, much less Independence Day, and let that remembrance move us to prayer and action. May God have mercy on our nation, soften our hearts, and lead us to repentance so that we will value every human life He creates and leave a legacy that honors Him for generations to come.
