Memorial Day in itself is not a “Happy” occasion. The approximate total U.S. casualties during wartime since our country began has exceeded 2.8 million people. I have heard it said that “Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you; Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. One died for your soul; the other for your freedom.” The most interesting part of this is that the soldiers who sacrificed their lives throughout time for our safety and well being never knew everyone that they were sacrificing for. And Jesus who sacrificed His life, did it for the most part, for those that hated and despised Him at some point. Love seems to give certain individuals the ability, courage, and strength to give that ultimate sacrifice. True love is not measured by words alone, but by what someone is willing to endure for the sake of others. Throughout history, brave men and women have answered the call to serve, knowing the cost could be far greater than they could ever imagine. Their sacrifice reminds us that freedom has never been free and peace has often been purchased through pain and loss. Behind every fallen soldier is a family whose life was forever changed, carrying both pride and sorrow in their hearts. Many gave up birthdays, holidays, precious moments with loved ones, and even their dreams so future generations could live in liberty. The courage of those who served should inspire us to live with gratitude, humility, and a deeper appreciation for the blessings we often take for granted. Even in the darkest moments of war, acts of compassion, brotherhood, and selflessness continue to shine as testimonies of the human spirit. We must never allow this day to become routine or stripped of its sacred meaning. Memorial Day calls us to pause, reflect, and honor those whose names may never be known by us personally, but whose sacrifice has impacted every one of our lives. Their legacy lives on every time we gather freely to worship, speak, work, and raise our families in this nation. I like what is written in *John 15:13 No one has greater love [nor stronger commitment] than to lay down his own life for his friends.* As we go through this day, may we remember what this day is all about, not about a 3 day weekend, a time to have a party and barbecue, it is about Love. Love for our country and love for our family, friends, and neighbors. May we teach our children the true meaning of honor, sacrifice, and service so that future generations will never forget the price that was paid for freedom. Let us also remember the wounded veterans, grieving spouses, parents, and children whose sacrifices continue long after the battlefield has grown silent. In a world that often celebrates selfishness, the lives of these heroes remind us that the greatest strength is found in serving others. Their example challenges us to stand for what is right, to love deeply, and to live courageously in our own daily walk. My Friends, may we also pray for those who are active in the military now or who will be in the future because they may become a casualty of war for one reason or another. Today as we remember the loss and sacrifice of our country’s past, may God give us His comfort, peace, and protection for our future. For all those who have suffered loss and today is not easy, you are in my thoughts and prayers. “Heavenly Father, thank you for Jesus’ sacrifice so that we can have eternity with You, and thank you for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.” As not all of us have a military life, as believers, we are soldiers of the cross and I would like to encourage you with the words of Charles Spurgeon, “It is our duty and our privilege to exhaust our lives for Jesus. We are not to be living specimens of men in fine preservation, but living sacrifices, whose lot is to be consumed.” May we never grow weary in doing good, and may we continue to stand boldly for faith, freedom, truth, and righteousness. Let our lives reflect gratitude not only in words, but in the way we serve, love, and care for one another every single day. Even in uncertain times, we can move forward with confidence knowing that God is still sovereign, faithful, and near to the brokenhearted. May God strengthen this nation, unite its people with compassion and wisdom, and raise up generations who will walk with courage, integrity, and unwavering faith. May God bless America, protecting US, guiding US, and comforting US in times of loss and sorrow, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

My BeLoved, may the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus, the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
