MOTHER’S DAY is more than just a day for cards, chocolate, breakfast in bed, and reservations at crowded restaurants. Mother’s Day is a celebration for women who are beautiful examples of the high calling of the love of God in our lives. When God created mothers, He gave them a special heart, to love, care, and protect the children that were entrusted to them. Today is a day set apart to show appreciation to moms for all that they do everyday. To see a mother who is reflected in the scriptures is a great honor. It is written in *Proverbs 31:28 Her children rise up and call her blessed…31 Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.* Moms who are a source of honor, goodness, and loveliness are a true blessing from God. A godly mother carries strength in her spirit, wisdom in her words, and compassion in her heart that can shape generations. Her prayers cover her family in ways that may never fully be seen on this side of heaven, yet their impact is eternal. Through sacrifice, perseverance, and unconditional love, mothers reflect the faithful heart of God in powerful ways each and every day. Even in moments of exhaustion and unseen labor, the love of a mother continues to shine brightly as a testimony of grace. We should never take for granted the countless ways mothers pour themselves out to encourage, nurture, and uplift the lives around them. The gentle encouragement of a mother can bring healing and hope during life’s most difficult seasons as it has in mine. Many of the values we carry throughout our lives were first planted in us through the patience, instruction, and love of a mother. A mother’s faithfulness often becomes the foundation that inspires families to remain strong through trials and uncertainty. There is something deeply powerful about the quiet sacrifices mothers make that often go unnoticed but leave lasting impressions on the hearts of their children. As we reflect today, may we remember that the influence of a loving mother is one of God’s greatest gifts and one of life’s most precious treasures. I like what Charles Spurgeon said about mothers, “You are as much serving God in looking after your own children, and training them up in God’s fear, and minding the house, and making your household a church for God, as you would be if you had been called to lead an army to battle for the Lord of hosts.” There is another perspective about Mother’s Day that many do not talk about, the difficulty for some because they are suffering with loss, struggling because their moms were not good examples, and some mom’s have to raise their children as single parents in challenging times. It can be hard to be thankful for all the mothers that have affected our lives in the negative ways that they have, but even with the bad there is some good, they have showed us by example on how not to be, and helped make us who we are today by God’s grace. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s, I pray that your day is blessed beyond measure and that you experience God’s presence, peace, and favor today. May every mother be reminded that her labor, prayers, and sacrifices are seen by God and will never return void. May we continue to honor, cherish, and support the mothers in our lives not only today, but every day that God gives us. Let us stand firm in gratitude for the women who have carried families through trials with faith, courage, and unwavering love. May the Lord strengthen every mother with renewed joy, steadfast hope, and the assurance that her life carries an eternal purpose and impact.
