I remember it like it was yesterday and probably always will. A few years back a friend called me about his young 5-year-old daughter who was having a type of seizure. He asked if I would come over and anoint her with oil and pray over her because she was having a procedure the next day and felt led to walk by faith and the word of God. I asked my daughter to come along with me because I have witnessed the power of the Holy Spirit through her prayers. The parents and the two of us had a discussion about all that had been going on from the little girl’s interaction with demons, to ourselves feeling the presence of the darkness as we walked through the door of their home. In my own family we have witnessed the enemy attack many times over the years, and the most painful was when it was the most vulnerable among us, my granddaughter who was eight-years-old at the time. As we look at the scriptures it is clear about how we should respond when we are faced with enemy attacks as written about in *Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.* These represent different levels of the enemy’s ranks. What are we to do when physically afflicted by the enemy, we are to follow the scriptures as seen written in *James 5:14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.* And when all this is going on I reflect on what is written in Matthew 17:14 And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16 So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.” When my granddaughter went through her “glitch” I followed after the words of the Lord Jesus written in *Matthew 17:19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”…21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”* I am confident to say that is what helped my grand-daughter and my friend’s daughter, was praying and fasting by faith. So I ask all of you who have confident faith, if you would take a moment and say a prayer for any you know that are being afflicted and please pray for these two little ones that I mentioned for they still are affected in some way but are a lot better. That night after we left I felt the evil follow me home, it visited me in my dreams, it tormented me throughout the night, and some strange things happened. I believe my family will continue to be affected by the enemy because of our faith in the Lord Jesus and because of what we are actively doing for the kingdom. I pray that the Lord Jesus rebukes the evil and protects my family on a regular basis. I also pray that all hell will rejoice when I go home to be with the Lord, for I will  no longer be in the fight or a threat to those who oppose God. Spiritual warfare isn’t a side issue — it’s a constant reality for those who are genuinely in the fight.
