Over the years I have had conversations with certain individuals about the devotionals that I share and my thoughts and purpose involved in writing them. I have heard some say that they are too depressing for them to read on a daily basis. For others, they unsubscribed because it was cluttering up their inbox because they go out daily. I have even heard others saying that their days are too busy to spend two minutes reading them so they send them to spam without even looking at them. I realize that what I write is not for everyone. Some like them and can relate and others never will. I started writing a little more than ten years ago as a way of personal therapy and I feel that my writing techniques have improved by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. One of the first ones that I wrote was simple and to the point, “*John 11:35 Jesus wept.* (He was sad).” I have had some share with me that they feel that the devotionals are too long, too short, well written, incomplete, offensive, encouraging, etc. etc. I believe that as I am led by the Holy Spirit to write what I do on a daily basis, I do my best to bring glory to God through the good times of my life as well as the bad. I desire to share truth, faith, love, and more than anything else the hope I have in the Lord Jesus. My prayer for all who read the words that I share are written in *Romans 15:13 May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope.* John Maxwell stated so eloquently, “Where there is no hope in the future, there is no power in the present.” I have become confident that all those who are able to find hope for the future in the Lord Jesus through the direction of the Holy Spirit will have the strength and empowerment to succeed in the present to do all that they are called to do for the glory of God. I do not get paid to write what I do but am thankful for the gifts and encouragement that I receive. I believe that what I write is a calling that I cannot avoid, so what I receive through whoever is led, is a gift from God. I feel blessed to be able to share with others what God has done and is doing in my life. My heart is to ultimately inspire and encourage the brethren to read God’s Word and discover its power for themselves for the days that we are living in are evil. Some will think that what I write is a scrambled mess, others will never understand and disregard what I share for a variety of reasons, there have been a handful that have encouraged me regularly in a variety of ways, but then there are those chosen few who I believe will walk with me into the fiercest battles, physically, emotionally, and prayerfully, against the enemy without looking back. My life’s goal has been to live out the words of C.T. Studd, “Some want to live within the sound Of church or chapel bell; I want to run a rescue shop, Within a yard of hell.” My question to all who read these words is, “Who is willing to boldly fight with me in the battle?” The end of the matter of my rant is that I am not really sure how many people read what I write, but my heart is that if one person has been drawn closer to the Lord Jesus by what I share, it will all have been worth it. I never want someone to read what I write or listen to me share the word and think, “What a great writer” or “What a powerful preacher.” My heart’s desire is that when someone witnesses something that I do for the Lord they say, “What an awesome God we have.” If you have been encouraged please feel free to let me know. Even encouragers need encouragement some days, and today is one of those days. Soli Deo Gloria – For the Glory of God Alone. My BeLoved, may the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus, the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
Special Note: I want to thank those who read what I write and are encouraged to support the ministry God has entrusted to me either one time or have decided to give on a monthly basis. I am encouraged to see certain verses playing out before my eyes like what is written in *Philippians 4:16 For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.*
