Have you ever thought about what you would give away if you were overly abundantly rich? I asked this to a friend and her response was, “It is the same thing I give away now when I don’t have hardly anything, my knowledge and understanding of salvation in and through the Lord Jesus.” Many of us are so busy learning about all that the world has to offer that we are not focusing on all that God wants us to offer to the world. We go to school to learn how to be equipped to handle whatever may come our way but what do we really learn that has any eternal value. We look to teachers, books, peers, to learn how to be what the world thinks we should be and not look to The Teacher, Jesus, The Book, the Bible, our spiritual Peers, the Saints, to help us to be all that God wants us to be. I am convicted as I have prayed over what is written in *Matthew 19:21 Jesus answered him, “If you wish to be perfect [that is, have the spiritual maturity that accompanies godly character with no moral or ethical deficiencies], go and sell what you have and give [the money] to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me [becoming My disciple, believing and trusting in Me and walking the same path of life that I walk].” 22 But when the young man heard this, he left grieving and distressed, for he owned much property and had many possessions [which he treasured more than his relationship with God].* I understand that the Lord Jesus made this statement to this certain individual, but I think it applies to many others as well, especially me in some way. I question my commitment to the Lord Jesus and regularly look into the mirror and ask myself, “What do you want to give the entire world, your entire world? What are you rich with that others need so desperately for you to give them? Hope? Faith? Love? Joy? Peace?” Maybe some will freely give away what they have, but from what I have seen, most won’t because of pride and selfishness. What you “want” to give to the world is different from what you are “willing” to give away. What we really need to ask ourselves earnestly is, “Is what I want in life more important to me than what God wants for me to give to the world?” I am more aware today than ever before that I need to forget about my plans for my future and focus intently on what God’s plans are for me, realizing that His plans are so much better than mine. For those who read these words and are affected in any way, I pray for grace and peace to be upon you as you die to yourself and live wholeheartedly for Him. My BeLoved, may the grace of the Lord Jesus, and the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
