Have you ever contemplated what the biblical definition of repentance really is? “It is the act of leaving what God has prohibited and returning to what He has commanded. The word denotes the act of being repentant for one’s misdeeds, atoning for those misdeeds, and having a strong determination to forsake those misdeeds. In simple terms, (remorse, resolution, and repentance, ie. turning back to God).” Being a Christian is more than a title that we go by, it is a declaration of formal announcement to whom we belong and how we are called to live. It is a different way of life from the infidels and pagans of the world around us. Many have received a false sense of salvation from the pulpits of the churches they attend because of a lack of due diligence to know the truth found in the Bible all because they are listening to individuals who are more concerned with filling the seat of their church than filling heaven with saints. What kind of faith is it that permits a person, having affirmed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, to continue to live in an unbroken pattern of sin and rebellion? The “feel good gospel” has gone forth and not the importance of repentance. There was a simple message that was preached as seen written in *Matthew 3:1 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”* A little later, Jesus preached the same message as written in *Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”* Wherever there is true faith there is genuine repentance. Today is the day to be fervent in repentance because we are closer to heaven than ever before and as the scriptures state, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. As we look into the scriptures we can clearly see time and time again that God never sent Prophets to tell people how to get rich, He sent them to tell the people to repent and in turn show them how to get right with God before it’s too late. Charles Spurgeon said that “Repentance grows as Faith grows. Do not make any mistake about it; Repentance is not a thing of days and weeks, a temporary penance to be got over as fast as possible! No; it is the Grace of a lifetime, like Faith itself.” To all who confess Jesus as Lord, may we keep in mind that repentance is an essential, continuous action of turning away from sin and intentionally directing one’s actions, and our entire life toward God. It means more than just feeling sorry; it requires a genuine change of heart, mind, and behavior. To confess Jesus as Lord means aligning with His will, not just using words. In simple terms, if Jesus is your “Lord”, repentance is the daily, and sometimes moment by moment choice to stop going your own way and start following His way instead.

My BeLoved, may the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus, the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
