HYPOCRITES, fence jumpers, 6 1/2 day sinners. For many so-called Christians, they are comfortable in the world all week long, living, talking, walking in the ways of the world, but on Sundays, church day, they change, walking through the door as if they were some great saint. And then on the way out, something happens between the altar and the door. It seems as though they have forgotten about the mighty name by which they are called, “Christian.” The children of God are called to live differently day in and day out, in public as well as private. It is written in *2 Corinthians 6:17 So, come out from among [unbelievers], and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord, and touch not [any] unclean thing; then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor, 18 And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.* I confess that I am far from perfect, I acknowledge that I am a wretched sinner who is only saved by the grace of God, but I strive to be holy in an unholy world. Some days I do better and others, not so much. I have been distraught by my actions and distracted from my purpose by what I can only see as spiritual warfare. There are many though, who actively live a sinful lifestyle and are not convicted by the Holy Spirit who need to question their own walk before the Lord. I see through reading His word that God wants you to STOP IT, stop living in a way that is shameful, repent. Either you are a child of God or you are a child of the devil, you can’t be both. Charles Spurgeon said, “You may readily judge whether you are a child of God or a hypocrite by seeing in what direction your soul turns in seasons of severe trial. The hypocrite flies to the world and finds a sort of comfort there. But the child of God runs to his Father and expects consolation only from the Lord’s hand.” I am not talking about legalism, I am not judging anybody else’s heart before God, only my own. Understand that the core difference between a child of God and a hypocrite lies in their heart relationship with God and their motivation, rather than in outward appearance. A child of God is defined by a genuine, transformed life that shows they love God, while a hypocrite is defined by a “masked” or performative external show of piety to gain human approval, and there are many on stages and behind pulpits who are prime examples of this. I feel at times I am more of a hypocrite than a genuine child of God when I reflect on the parts of my life that only God and I know about. But when I fail, I run to God for comfort, mercy, and forgiveness. I repent and seek to align with God’s will again and again. In the end, I entirely rely on the righteousness of Christ for my acceptance before God, surrendering my own pride and self-righteousness before Him. I know that I am not a sinless person, but rather a forgiven, struggling person who is being changed by grace time and time again. My Friends, I am asking you to judge your own heart before Almighty God and make the right choices in God’s name today to live holy for He is Holy, tomorrow may be too late.
My BeLoved, may the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus, the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
