THREE of the most SELFISH and DANGEROUS people that I have to deal with on a regular basis are, Me, Myself, and I. This is the most unholy trinity. I am not sure about anyone else but there are common phrases that express how prideful and arrogant these three individuals are. “This will make Me feel better.” “This is My way of relaxing.” “I need this.” “I’ve earned it.” As I watch the news, I see the words of scripture playing out all around us. It is written in *2 Timothy 3:2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God*. There are days that I battle with these three selfish and dangerous characteristics intensely. As I read certain scriptures I can see how I am supposed to live my life and yet struggle just about every day. It is written in *1 Corinthians 13:4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails…* The words of Charles Spurgeon are as true today as when he said them, “Further and further from everything selfish, grovelling, worldly, sinful, he calls me; yea, from the outwardly religious world which knows him not, and has no sympathy with the mystery of the higher life, he calls me.” My life can’t be about “Me, Myself, and I” anymore. My life must be about living to glorify the Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. My beloved, may we be focused on God’s kingdom and not our own. May we pour into others what God has poured into us, the love of His Son, the Lord Jesus. In His precious and powerful name we pray, and all of God’s people who agreed said, Amen. My BeLoved, may the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus, the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
