The JOURNEY to Jesus is not always easy and may not always be what you expect. Many are drawn to Jesus, but for some, it takes years before they come to seek Him out and fall down in worship of Him. I am not sure how many realize that the nativity scene that shows the Wise men at the manger is a little bit off, they should have been put on an end table instead of the fireplace mantle. The journey of the entourage of the Magi’s started when Jesus was born, when they saw the star, and took years before they ended up at the house with the Child and His mother. It is written in *Matthew 2:2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea…magi (wise men) from the east came to Jerusalem, asking, 2 “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the east and have come to worship Him.” 11 And after entering the house, they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then, after opening their treasure chests, they presented to Him gifts [fit for a king, gifts] of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.* For Jesus, every gift had significance. Gold for the King, frankincense for our High Priest, and  myrrh (used for embalming) for the perfect sacrifice. Jesus’ birth showed the world Christ as a human, His incarnation being an indispensable part of the economy of our salvation. I am encouraged by the words of Charles Spurgeon, “As we think today of the birth of the Savior, let us aspire after a fresh birth of the Savior in our hearts; that as he is already ‘formed in us the hope of glory,’ we may be ‘renewed in the spirit of our minds;’ that we may go to the Bethlehem of our spiritual nativity and do our first works, enjoy our first loves, and feast with Jesus as we did in the holy, happy, heavenly days of our espousals.” Bride of Christ, as we look forward to celebrating Christmas, may we truly keep our focus on the reason for the season, Jesus, and the fulfilled prophecy of the birth of our Savior. I pray for all who read these words to have a very Merry Christmas, and from this day forward to live with an enduring faith in the promises of God. My BeLoved, may the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus, the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
