For many Christians it is challenging to figure out why we have on-going sin struggles and moral failures. Some of us have suffered a variety of wounds and/or mental injuries from past trauma that caused a spiritual separation between us and God. Then, we spend the rest of our lives either hiding our sin or trying to justify it so we can continue to get that rush, whether it is a dopamine hit, or the charge from thinking we are in control of whatever monster that has control over us. I pray often about what is written in *Proverbs 28:13 He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, But whoever confesses and turns away from his sins will find compassion and mercy.* Those of us who struggle beg God to take the fleshly desires away, we make a deal with Him that this will be the last time, never again, just to fail a few days later. If we could take a pill or perform some great life threatening feat we would. We may have short periods of sobriety and purity, but even though we hate it with all that we are, we can’t seem to overcome it permanently. As followers of the Lord Jesus, to have the peace that many of us so desperately need, we must confess to God that we have sinned and ask for forgiveness, and also confess to another in Christ for the help and support that we need. There have been many times in my Christian walk when I didn’t want to, but I did what is written in *James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses, your sins], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].* We live in fear that eventually someone is going to find out what we are doing, not really accepting and realizing that we have an audience of one, and God has seen it all. Satan uses a hook to keep us away from God. God uses His word to keep us close to Him, and that is where we find the help we need to prosper and give us the freedom so many of us so desperately need. We need to honor God with purity and integrity, and help others break the cycle of sin and shame. I want to deal with the real issue that is stealing my joy, killing my desire for God, and destroying lives, families, and relationships today, and that is found in the “Unless” statements spoken in scripture. I pray fervently not only for me but for all who read these words that struggle in one way or another for the Holy Spirit’s help to actively pursue what is written in *Matthew 18:3 and said, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless you repent [that is, change your inner self—your old way of thinking, live changed lives] and become like children [trusting, humble, and forgiving], you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.* My friends, we can’t fight sin head on, we must flee from it. Don’t walk, Run! That also means we don’t walk to Jesus, we must run to Him. If you are weary in the battle, know that you are not alone. When you are in the trials of life, call on me or others in your support team and fight the enemy together. My BeLoved, may the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus, the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
