Do you know Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world? Its peak is 29,029 feet above sea level. For me, that’s hard to picture. I look at the mountains that surround this beautiful valley of Tucson and think they are huge. Mount Lemmon is a popular destination here, and it’s one of my favorite places to go. There is a pull off, that if you stop there at night, it’s as if you could reach up and touch the stars. Mount Lemmon only stands 9,157 feet above sea level, that is nothing compared to Everest. However, it is still pretty big. The smallest mountain in the world is Mount Wycheproof, standing 486 feet above sea level. Now I’m sure by now you are wondering why I’m giving you all these facts about mountains, and we are getting there. But first let me give you a few more facts about something else. Do you know that if you buy a ticket to play the Powerball there is a 1 in 175,223,510 chance that you will win. Every Wednesday and Saturday night, a winning number is drawn. Do you know how many tickets are sold on average for each drawing? Twelve Million. That means that twelve million tickets are bought, with the buyer believing that they will win. Because if you did not think you would win, you would not play. How much faith does it take to believe that you are going to be the 1 in 175,223,510? How much faith does it take to play the game again, when you did not win the time before? Does it take enough to move mountains? As humans we are more than willing to put our faith into five numbers, even though the odds of us choosing the correct five numbers is 1 in 175,223,510. And yet it seems impossible for us to put our faith in God when our odds are so much better. There is a 100 percent chance that with Him we win. In Matthew 17:20 Jesus says “…for I assure you and most solemnly say to you, if you have [living] faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and [if it is God’s will] it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” Nothing will be impossible for you. Did you catch that part? Do you have the faith to tell Everest to move? How about Mount Lemmon? Or even Mount Wycheproof? With God we have already won the lottery, now what are we going to do with our winnings? We all have different mountains in our lives. Different battles we face. Different odds at failing and succeeding. However, there is one thing we all have in common, a Heavenly Father who knows us by name and is asking us to have faith. Not in five measly numbers, but in Him. With Him we can do anything. Nothing is impossible. We can follow our dreams. We can go after the new job. We can have the baby we did not plan. We can go back to school. We can remove the toxic things from our lives. We can fight for the marriage that we think we have lost. We can be bold in our faith. We can step out of our comfort zones to share the love of Christ with the world around us. We can do ANYTHING.
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to tell the mountains in front of me to move from here to there. It may take some time for me to get to my Everest, but Wycheproof, I’m coming for you! Because with Christ I can do anything, all it takes is a little faith. Faith the size of a mustard seed. So the question I have for you: Do you have the faith to tell your mountains to move? My BeLoved, may the grace of the Lord Jesus, and the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
