How long can you go without food before you start getting hungry? A couple of hours maybe? Some may go a day, but who would try to go for a year? What would happen? After about 40 days you would die. Many live this way on a spiritual level. The word of God is not the same type of nourishment as physical food, to the Christian it is supposed to be more important, and yet there are many that only pick it up when they are in crisis, lonely, or depressed. I confess that there are times when I do not read my Bible the way I feel I need to, intentionally, passionately, desperately seeking the face of God. This is by no means condemnation to anyone else but a sad truth of my own personal relationship with God. I have let the busyness of my day and the messiness of ministry cause me to become complacent in my time in the word and with the Lord. Quite often I meditate on what is written in *Psalms 1:1 Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man…2…his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night.3 And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].* Not sure about anyone else but I want these types of blessings in my life, to be “happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable.” One thing that I have seen with the sick is that when someone is too weak to feed themselves, someone else comes in and helps. If you have someone that is intentional about drawing you closer to the Lord Jesus, encouraging you to read your Bible, feeding you the truth of God’s word, and motivating you to pray everyday, thank them, those people seem to be few and far between in the evil and wicked days that we are living in. Closing thought, We as a culture are drowning in information while starving for wisdom, and the wisdom that we so desperately need is only found in the Word of God. My Brethren, may we all get into the Word so that the Word will get into us and transform us into the image of Christ. If you are looking for a pace to start reading, I would recommend The Gospel of John. There you will see the love of our Savior and hopefully understand why we need the Lord so desperately. My BeLoved, may the grace of the Lord Jesus, and the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
Special Note: I want to thank those who read what I write and are encouraged to support the ministry God has entrusted to me either one time or have decided to give on a monthly basis. I am encouraged to see certain verses playing out before my eyes like what is written in *Philippians 4:16 For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.*
