Looking at the governments of this world, generally speaking, there are three types today—monarchies, dictatorships, and democracies. In the United States, the officials are to be put in place by the will of the people. The question comes up quite often, should Christians vote? As we read the scriptures we come to understand that it is God who puts people in power and also God who removes them. It is written in *Romans 13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God [granted by His permission and sanction], and those which exist have been put in place by God.* In a democratic society, I believe that God moves on the hearts of His people to vote for the person who has principles and character that align with His word. Pro-life (Proverbs 6:17). Pro-Israel (Gen 12:3). Pro-marriage (Genesis 2:24). Pro-debt reduction (Proverbs 22:7). Pro-Stewardship (Colossians 2:15). Pro-Personal Identity (Psalms 139:14). And there are far more that we should seek out. I ask that if you are a Christian to do your due diligence when voting. We cannot separate our political or even our daily lives from our heavenly calling and values. We must vote as if our God given rights depend on it, because they do, and maybe even our very lives may as well. Some of the consequences of complacency will not be experienced by this generation or maybe even the next, but those that follow after may never know the freedoms that we experience today. Dear Heavenly Father, if it be thy will, please protect Your children from those who oppose You, help us to stand firm in Your truth and the principles that You have laid out in Your Word no matter what may come our way, in Jesus name, Amen. I often contemplate what Charles Spurgeon said on the matter, “Of two evils, choose neither,’” he said. “Christians must turn from the endless cycle of voting for the lesser of evils and expecting an unrighteous act to produce a righteous result. From a communist to a cultist, choosing the lesser of evils is still evil, and never should we do evil that good may come.” We as Christian must not only step up but when called by God, step in. My BeLoved, may the grace of the Lord Jesus, and the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
