Revival is the growth of something or an increase in the activity of something after a long period of no growth or activity (Merriam-Webster). It seems as we look around at our society that we see more of the reflection of the world than we do of Christ in just about every aspect of life. Even in some churches, they have become a nightclub, a carnal show for the masses, and the pulpit has become a stage to entertain the audience. There is coffee in the lobby, worship on a screen, a hotshot pastor delivering an inspirational message with some scripture applied to it, a place where the sheep are being malnourished while the goats are being fed. There is a lacking of a spirit of discernment because of a numbers-over-substance approach has led many churches to a focus on flashy entertainment and marketing over substance and depth. The world appears to be bored with the spiritual things of God and no longer seek truth, only something to tickle their ears. We want blessings in our own pockets without much sacrifice or inconvenience for others, and as for the hurting in our cities, the only time we cross the street is so that we do not cross their path, causing us not to be the hands and feet of Jesus as we are called to be. It has become evident that prosperity in the United States has brought passivity to many of the people of God. The people that go to church, enjoy their time there and yet, when many leave the building, they also appear to leave their love and devotion for the Lord Jesus at the threshold of the sanctuary. Why can’t the church on Sunday have the same devotion Monday through Saturday too? Brethren, REVIVAL needs to start with the children of God now. It is written in *Acts 2:17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. 18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.* Many of these signs and wonders are coming to pass, but sad to say for America it is happening in other countries. I believe that persecution is one of the most powerful ways that causes revival and complacency is the result of prosperity. Penn Jillette, a devoted atheist stated, “If you believe that there’s a heaven and hell and people could be going to hell—or not getting eternal life or whatever—and you think that, well, it’s not really worth telling them this because it would make it socially awkward. . . . How much do you have to hate somebody to not proselytize? How much do you have to hate somebody to believe that everlasting life is possible and not tell them that?” My life verse is written in *2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.* I try to live out this scripture every day and fail more times than not, but keep trying to glorify God as much as I can, one by one. My prayer is heartfelt,  “Heavenly Father, please give Your children boldness to preach the Gospel. REVIVE a spirit in us of a love for your word, a love for the lost and broken, and compassion for the dying. Pour out Your Spirit on us to help us further Your kingdom, in Jesus precious and powerful name, Amen. Closing quote by Charles Spurgeon, “If we want revivals, we must revive our reverence for the Word of God.” And one from Leonard Ravenhill, “The only reason we don’t have revival is because we are willing to live without it!” May revival start with me, today. My BeLoved, may the grace of the Lord Jesus, and the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
