“What can I pray for you about?” should be more than just words spoken in passing, they should be words spoken from the heart, meant to be taken seriously and performed with purpose before the throne of grace. Over the years there have been different responses that I have heard when I’ve asked that question to those I meet. Some have been brought to tears in the midst of the prayer, while others are almost flippant, not showing a serious or respectful attitude in any way. I pray the way I do because I understand the importance of what is written in *Ephesians 6:18 With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.* My prayer life is what it is because I have experienced the providence of God in my daily activities as well as His faithfulness. I have been convicted by the words of men like Charles Spurgeon, “Prayer pulls the rope below and the great bell rings above in the ears of God. Some scarcely stir the bell, for they pray so languidly. Others give but an occasional pluck at the rope. But he who wins with heaven is the man who grasps the rope boldly and pulls continuously, with all his might.” while also remembering that “No man can do me a truer kindness in this world than to pray for me”. I believe that there is no greater honor a person can have than to take the needs of another before God who can do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we ask or think, and no greater blessing to receive than to be the one who is prayed for. As followers of the Lord Jesus, we are all called to be watchmen for our brethren and intercede on their behalf. I remember when I told someone that I knew that I had been praying for them, their response shocked me a little. They said confidently, “Thank you, because you are probably the only person that is.” and those words hurt my heart, but I also understand that feeling. My brethren, if you have someone that is praying for you on a regular basis, or more impactfully is taking their time to pray with you, cherish them, because they are loving you on an entirely different level than the rest of the world, and even those who say that they are praying for you are genuinely your brothers and sisters in Christ. Please remember to pray for me as I pray for all who read these words because today is one of those days that I would really appreciate the blessing of peace from God. I pray that God gives all of His children a boldness to seek the best for others and a fervent desire to pray for those that are around us because we may be the only ones that do. My Beloved, may the grace of the Lord Jesus, and the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
