There are different challenges that my family struggles through on a regular basis that are overwhelming and exhausting at times for my daughter, son-in-law, and I. We have four children in our home that have specific special needs, all a little different, but still a lot to deal with. It is a full time job for both of us. We are so busy helping the children learn how to live in a world that doesn’t understand them that it leaves little time for either of us to do much else effectively. Trying to balance the children’s needs and our financial responsibilities as well as other obligations is not an easy task. Our main goal is to live out in our home what is written in *Deuteronomy 6:6 And these words which I am commanding you this day shall be [first] in your [own] minds and hearts; [then] 7 You shall whet and sharpen them so as to make them penetrate, and teach and impress them diligently upon the [minds and] hearts of your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.* We have chosen to homeschool the kids with Christian curriculum to make sure that they learn more about the world in proper perspective and keep them from being indoctrinated and brainwashed with thoughts and cares that are not from God. The Bible is our Document of Authority and that is what we use to teach, educate, and train them in truth and understanding. Our goal is to help them to know both sides of the issues of our society so that their ideas, opinions, and beliefs are Biblically founded and they can reason from the scriptures and not argue from them. I like what Charles Spurgeon said, “You are as much serving God in looking after your own children, training them up in God’s fear, minding the house, and making your household a church for God as you would be if you had been called to lead an army to battle for the Lord of Hosts.” At the beginning of the day we pray, throughout the day we worship, in our interactions we discuss scripture regularly. We evangelize when the opportunity presents itself to all who cross our path, and as a family we minister together in activities such as our church potluck, and our Iron Sharpens Iron spiritual support group on Sunday evenings. Our lives are consumed with what we believe God has called us to do to fulfill His purpose in the lives of those in our home and those that we interact with. Due to the special needs of our family we have had more than twenty different therapy workers come into our home over the years where the majority of them have not known Jesus, and whom we’ve been able to share the Gospel with. Our prayer is simple, “Dear Lord, please help us to prepare and train the children in our home to be warriors for the battle that is raging around us, and please open the heart’s and mind’s of all those who we interact with to be open to not only hear the Good News but to receive it as well. In Jesus’ precious and powerful name, Amen. My BeLoved, may the grace of the Lord Jesus, and the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen. I am encouraged to see certain verses playing out before my eyes like what is written in *Philippians 4:16 For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.*
