Having a devotion to God, an understanding of who He is and what He is capable of, can take an ordinary life and make it extraordinary. The God of the bible was able to do great and mighty things by the hands of those who were willing to be used by Him. God used a shepherd boy to take down a giant with boldness. It is written in *1 Samuel 17:45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you.* God was able to take Daniel, a man of prayer, into a lion’s den and out of it as well because Daniel was faithful and more importantly so was God. It is written in *Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God…* And God made it possible to have a simple fisherman walk on water. It is written in *Matthew 14:28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.* There are many people who read the scriptures, who read of the miracles and see the effects of faith, that think that it is all well and good for those in the past, but that stuff does not happen in today’s world. Our God is NOT dead! Brethren, may WE be a generation of people that stirs up a revival, with the boldness of David, the faithfulness of Daniel, the confidence of Peter, to the glory of the Lord Jesus, in His precious and powerful name we pray, Amen. My closing thought and personal conviction is from Charles Spurgeon, “If we want revivals, we must revive our reverence for the Word of God. If we want conversions, we must put more of God’s Word into our sermons; even if we paraphrase it into our own words, it must still be his Word upon which we place our reliance, for the only power which will bless men lies in that. It is God’s Word that saves souls not our comment upon it, however correct that comment may be.” And in living our lives to glorify God no matter what we go through, we will have an extraordinary life!
