Over the years I have been sharing aspects of my life through words on a day to day basis. The one thing I have intentionally done has been to share my problems, situations, petitions and more importantly my praises in the open for my world to see in hopes that it would encourage someone. If you were to go back and read everything that I have ever written, you would see my life laid bare before the world, my childhood trauma, my substance abuse, my sin, can all be seen. More importantly, I try to do my best to make my Savior shine in a way that everyone can see that my life is about glorifying the Lord Jesus. For those who know me as only a Pastor, I feel led to share a few things with you about me. When I barely graduated high school I was working at Furr’s Cafeteria doing just about everything a person could do there. I started as a dishwasher, then became a cook, baker, salad maker, etc. After a few years, a change came when I needed to leave the state for a while, caused by my poor choices. When I came back to Tucson, I entered the automotive field, because ever since I was a child I was always taking something apart and trying to put it back together. I stayed in that line of work for forty years. In the midst of all that, I had my come to Jesus moment. I stayed in automotive, working sometimes 50-60 hours a week, while still desiring to minister in whatever snippets of time I had left, because that was my passion and still is. I reflect on the life of Paul, how he worked and shared the gospel. Shortly after he shared in Athens about them praying to an unknown God and explaining about Jesus, it is written in *Acts 18:1 After these things Paul departed from Athens and went to Corinth. 2 And he found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla (because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome); and he came to them. 3 So, because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them and worked; for by occupation they were tentmakers. 4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks.* Since becoming a Christian, sharing the gospel, reasoning from the scriptures, has become my purpose, my reason for living every day. In 2017, at the age of 53, I left the automotive field and went back to college to study Social Work and Substance Use Disorder, to which I received Associates degrees in both and was also able to share Jesus in every one of the classes that I took while at Pima College. After leaving automotive and then to school for 3 ½ years, I did not have a full time job until recently and yet I can boldly say that all of my family’s needs were met by the grace of God. He provided for us in very unconventional ways as I was doing a lot of odd jobs, getting second hand stuff to sell to supplement our lack of income, and receiving support in a roundabout manner. I am blessed to be able to say that I now have the best job I have ever had in working with children on the Autism spectrum, and the good thing for me is that I don’t have to leave my home to go to work. I get paid to attend to the needs of two of my grandchildren. I am not happy for the reason I have the job that I do but I am blessed in this season to be able to invest into my family as I do. I praise God everyday for supplying for my family in accordance to our needs and continuing to bring us through whatever continual challenges come our way, and from what many will attest because you read what I write, there are many. I like what Charles Spurgeon said, “We have all things and abound; not because I have a good store of money in the bank, not because I have skill and wit with which to win my bread, but because the Lord is my shepherd.” For those that don’t know, I live with my daughter, her husband, and their four children. All four of the children have specific special needs in one way or another, due to their needs we have therapy workers/support help coming into our home, at times seven days a week, with people transitioning in and out like we have a revolving portal. This is where my prayer request comes in. Over the past few years, God has moved every aspect of our life in a different direction. We are homeschooling all four kids, I am performing attendant care for the younger two, and there are a few other family dynamics and challenges that I cannot share at this time that we need God to intervene in. Please pray for us as we step out in faith and obedience, with hopeful expectation for God’s direction, protection, and provision. Thank you my beloved for your faithfulness, thoughts, prayer, and support. You all are truly valued. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
