I do not want to assume that everyone who reads what I share is going to heaven. In America we have developed a culture that practices Easy Believism. This mindset has brought about confession without repentance, words without works, a desire for love without sacrifice, and a hope for reconciliation without forgiveness. I believe that there are some that have heard the gospel, time and time again, have not had their hearts truly drawn to it. There are many that associate with the church that are outside of Christ. I pray fervently for myself as I read what is written in *Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’* My question for all those who say “Lord, Lord…”, are you a genuine follower of the Lord Jesus or just a fan? Do you have a genuine relationship with God or are you just trying to follow the rules to be able to get the prize of heaven? In the Book of Acts, shortly after Peter shared the truth through the scriptures that Jesus was the Christ, there was a change in the hearts of the people that heard it. It is written in *Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart [with remorse and anxiety], and they said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what are we to do?” 38 And Peter answered them, Repent (change your views and purpose to accept the will of God in your inner selves instead of rejecting it) and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of and release from your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.* Please pay attention to what I am asking, what dwells in the secret places of your heart? Have you been radically changed on the inside? A little while back I spoke to a young man that when I asked him if he was a Christian he said “yes.” When I asked him if he was going to heaven he said, “no one can be sure of that,” to which my response was that, “I can, because of the truth of God’s Word.” I asked him if he was living for the glory of God, if he was sharing Christ everywhere he went, there was silence. My thought was that if a servant of the Most High doesn’t tell others about Jesus, they really have to question whether or not they are His genuine follower or just a fan putting on the face paint to show the façade that expresses not only their ignorance but more times than not their arrogance with regard to confession and repentance. These individuals will never see the kingdom of heaven and that is why most days I feel the need to evaluate my own walk before God in brokenness. Confession for acceptance without repentance does not glorify God; it glorifies the one who confesses, to make himself look better. When a person neither acknowledges their depravity, nor their need to change, it shows the dishonesty of such a confession. My dear friends, I ask the Father of mercies, in the name of Jesus, His Son, that He pours upon us His grace by the power of the Holy Spirit, and gives all those who hear these words, those who acknowledge that they are only a fan, that they be “cut to the heart” with an honest desire to have a heart of repentance toward Him. Who will join me in repentance, for such a heart is one of great value and purpose before God. In Jesus’ precious and powerful name, and all of God’s people say, Amen. May the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all my beloved. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
