I have heard it said that there are more people alive today than have ever died. I am not sure if that is true or not, but the estimated number of people on earth at the time this was written was 8,223,132,507 and counting. There are many Bible verses that I believe are not taken at face value as they should be. There are Bible verses that break my heart because it causes me to understand that the majority of people I know are going to end up in hell. And these verses also cause me to question my own salvation at times. When was the last time you read and contemplated what is written in *Matthew 7:13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad and easy to travel is the path that leads the way to destruction and eternal loss, and there are many who enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow and difficult to travel is the path that leads the way to [everlasting] life, and there are few who find it.* The truth of the matter is, people that we all know are going to go to hell. Not everyone is going to a better place after they die, and scripturally there are only a few that will. Family, friends, individuals that we dearly love are going to go to hell. There are a couple of quotes by Charles Spurgeon that convict me to take to heart God’s word and to warn others. “Think lightly of hell, and you will think lightly of the cross. Think little of the sufferings of lost souls, and you will soon think little of the Savior who delivers them.” There are essentially two ways people live their lives these days, first, thinking to live in such a way that glorifies God, and if at the end of your life you find out that there is not a heaven you lived a life that was a blessing to others, or to live your life thinking that there isn’t a heaven and find out that there is, and end up in hell. For those of us who trust in, rely on, and cling to the living God, we believe without a doubt that we will end up in heaven with Him. One of my problems is, I know that I am not as broken over the lost souls as much as I think I should be. As a “Believer”, truly acknowledging that hell is as bad as the Bible says, I should be doing all that I can to make sure that no one goes there, and help the lost find their way to heaven, but I don’t. Brethren, how are you going to feel, if you get to heaven and find that the ones you loved most are not there because “you” did not tell them about Jesus? Spurgeon said, “Oh, my brothers and sisters in Christ, if sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies; and if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay, and not madly to destroy themselves. If hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for.” The world has already heard that there is a “Stairway to Heaven” and a “Highway to Hell ”, the believers need to explain to everyone they meet the significance of both. Closing thought, for those of us that know the truth, “How much do you have to hate a person to “Not” tell them about Jesus?” The sad thing is that for most of us, we are more afraid to tell those that we love most because we fear losing them while on earth instead of for eternity.
