MOTHER’S DAY is more than just a day for cards, chocolate, breakfast in bed, and reservations at crowded restaurants. Mother’s Day is a celebration for women who are beautiful examples of the high calling of the love of God in our lives. When God created mothers, He gave them a special heart, to love, care, and protect the children that were entrusted to them. Today is a day set apart to show appreciation to moms for all that they do everyday. To see a mother who is reflected in the scriptures is a great honor. It is written in *Proverbs 31:28 Her children rise up and call her blessed…31 Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.* Moms who are a source of honor, goodness, and loveliness are a true blessing from God. I like what Charles Spurgeon said about mothers, “You are as much serving God in looking after your own children, and training them up in God’s fear, and minding the house, and making your household a church for God, as you would be if you had been called to lead an army to battle for the Lord of hosts.” There is another perspective about Mother’s Day that many do not talk about, the difficulty for some because they are suffering with loss, struggling because their moms were not good, and some mom’s have to raise their children as single parents in challenging times. It can be hard to be thankful for all the mothers that have affected our lives in the negative ways that they have, but even with the bad there is some good, they have showed us by example on how not to be, and helped make us who we are today by God’s grace. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s, I pray that your day is blessed beyond measure and that you experience God’s presence, peace, and favor today. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
