There are plenty of people needing to hear the Word of God these days, but it seems like most Christians make excuses of why not to share the truth instead of looking around to find someone who might be eager to listen to the Gospel, the Good News of the Lord Jesus. God desires to use His children in one way or another, or maybe in many aspects, if we would only let down our pride, remove our doubt, and realize that there are lost and broken people all around us that need to hear about the Lord Jesus before it’s too late. We can see examples in the scriptures as to how we are to live our lives as seen written in *Matthew 9:35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”* I question myself and ask that all who hear these words to question yourselves as well. Have you truly been faithful to till the ground, stir up the soil, and prepare for planting the seed? Are you using what God has given you wisely and carefully, regarding your testimony, and genuinely living out your Christian walk in a way that is glorifying God, or are you living like the rest of the world without much thought of heaven on a daily basis? Do you plant seeds and lay the foundation of faith, or hide in the shadows not wanting to be inconvenienced? Do you nurture, feed, water, and take care of what and where the seed was planted, or do you deprive the soil of what it needs by your selfishness and lack of concern? Are you prepared to lead someone to Christ or are you comfortable to let them find their way to hell on their own? We all need to remember what is written in *Psalms 126:5 They who sow in tears shall reap with joyful singing. 6 He who goes back and forth weeping, carrying his bag of seed [for planting], Will indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.* To be a faithful Christian, we must be sowing the seed of the Word of God, no matter how difficult it may be. Jesus is coming back soon, we must put our Father’s business above our own. I am convicted by what Charles Spurgeon said, “If you ever feel it incumbent upon you not to prejudice a piece of ground by sowing good seed in it, you may rest assured that the weeds will not imitate your impartiality, but they will take possession of the land in a very sad and shocking manner. Where the plough does not go, and the seed is not sown, the weeds are quite sure to multiply; and if children are left untutored and untrained, all sorts of evils will spring up in their hearts and lives.” Closing thought, the scriptures say, “Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” not invite them to church for a social engagement, prioritizing entertainment over spiritual priorities. So many people forget that the building is not the church, the people are the church, and the building has become a way to help people become comfortable in their lack of due diligence as well as complacent.
