To those that are young I have some information for you that you may not realize, life is not as long as you think it’s going to be. In all reality, life is short and goes by really quick especially when you get a little older. Recently I have had some people that I knew, not people that were intimately close to my family, but people that I would consider acquaintances that have passed away for one reason or another. Their ages varied, the reasons behind each death was different, and the sad thing is I feel that I can say with some confidence that not all went into the presence of the Lord. The deaths of these individuals has caused me to evaluate a little more about my own life, especially when it comes to my relationship with Christ. I am more than 3/4 of the way through my life, if the Lord is gracious to me. The one thing that I contemplate on a regular basis is what kind of legacy will I leave behind. Will it be a legacy that reflects Christ or that of the world? I confess that deep down I am not what people see. I am a man who does not fear God enough, love God enough, or am obedient to God’s word or what He has called me to do, enough. There have been many days that only God and I know about where I have been a complete failure in one way or another for the kingdom. Someone once said, “When we look back and wonder how we ever made it this far, we’ll realize it’s not because we’ve been clever, but because God has been wise; not because we were strong, but because God has been mighty; and not because we’ve been consistent, but because God has been faithful.” The words that I want to hear the most about me are also the words that I know deep within that I am not worthy to say about myself written in *2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good and worthy and noble fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith [firmly guarding the gospel against error].* With all that I struggle through I am encouraged by the words of George Whitefield, “Press forward. Do not stop, do not linger in your journey, but strive for the mark set before you. Fight the good fight of faith, and God will give you spiritual mercies.” BeLoved, as I consider my legacy, please consider yours as well before it is too late. I have had enough days of waking up in the morning, looking in the mirror and believing the lie that I am not “enough.” I have made it my objective in life to turn my attention to the only voice that matters – God’s. I will fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith. I will listen to God and allow His truth to overflow my life through His word, by the power of the Holy Spirit, for His glory, in Jesus name, Amen. And I also pray for all who read these words. If you are struggling and do not feel good enough, please reach out to a Pastor, a Christian counselor, or a seasoned saint. There are many available to help you discover your true value and worth in the Lord Jesus. My beloved, a holy life is the legacy that will help others follow us to heaven. Please pray for me as I pray for all those who read these words. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
