One of the hardest things about ministry for some Pastors is being mindful of what ministry is all about, expository preaching of the God’s Word, saving lost souls, discipling the saints for the work of the ministry. For many, they have turned their buildings into a business, seeing how many people they can fit in their seats, to put on a stage show to entertain the audience, trying to get as much money so they can be able to get bigger screens and a better sound system. There is anguish in my soul as I see what some churches present in their buildings that are not only offensive to me but more importantly disrespectful and offensive to God. There is something definitely wrong with a church when they would rather promote worldly values than being offended by the sin which it represents. A Few years back one specific Pastor presented an Easter service that was a shameless pursuit of sensationalism designed to bring out the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. The Pastor said that he did not feel that he should share the message of the Resurrection as to not offend, so he allowed his church to present “pop” cover songs, women talking about their butts, all the way to some “lady” getting crucified on a cross, to create a mood, to manipulate the people by worldly emotion. It is sad to say that some of the mega-church Pastors have developed an attention-grabbing behavior and made their lifestyles about self-promotion and not self denial. They have made their church about themselves as the savior, forgetting what John the Baptist said as written in *John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease. [He must grow more prominent; I must grow less so.]* There are many men that because of their ignorance of the truth of God’s Word and their arrogance who should be disqualified from ministry. Another part of this conundrum is the truth that the people who sit under these Pastors are bringing judgment to themselves because of their lack of due diligence to the Word of God. They would rather listen to a man’s interpretation of the word than seek out “The Truth” and when they find error, speak to their pastor and if he does not act accordingly they need to leave that congregation. The Bible wisely instructs us that we can recognize false teachers by their deeds as we compare what they teach to the Word of God. I am heartbroken over those in the church who are more about worshiping their pastor than the Lord Jesus. I have prayed often over what is written in *2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine and accurate instruction [that challenges them with God’s truth]; but wanting to have their ears tickled [with something pleasing], they will accumulate for themselves [many] teachers [one after another, chosen] to satisfy their own desires and to support the errors they hold, 4 and will turn their ears away from the truth and will wander off into myths and man-made fictions [and will accept the unacceptable].* I am offended by those who have decided to bring the nightclub scene into their churches and have forgotten what is written in *2 Corinthians 6:17 So, come out from among [unbelievers], and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord, and touch not [any] unclean thing; then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor* There will be a cost when we separate ourselves from those who separate themselves from the truth of God’s word, and a bigger cost if we don’t. It is every Christians obligation and duty to speak truth, even if our voices shake. In Christ Love, douglas. HE>i. pastord.blog
