Have you ever sat and listened to someone share their love for God and His word, and after they speak you become encouraged and inspired because of your encounter with them? I am not talking about a Billy Graham or Greg Laurie type evangelist, but that of a newer believer who is on fire for Jesus. To them, every word of scripture is a golden nugget, a priceless jewel, a precious gift. To see someone light-up on words that you once had passion for brings those words back to life again. In the story, “Silent Fiery Sermon Given,” there is a section that encourages me to stay in fellowship because I know personally how destructive life can get if you are not. “…the preacher took the fire tongs, carefully picked up a brightly burning ember and placed it to one side of the hearth all alone… one lone ember’s flame flickered and diminished, there was a momentary glow and then its fire was no more. Soon it was cold and dead…picked up the cold, dead ember and placed it back in the middle of the fire. Immediately it began to glow, once more with the light and warmth of the burning coals around it…” I often reflect on what is written in *Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.* To experience an on-fire Christian reading the word to seek God’s face, to see them strive to understand their calling by the Holy Spirit, to watch them pursue to understand the will of God for their lives, and see how they fully worship Him, this is a greater honor and privilege than even they may understand. I like what Charles Spurgeon said pertaining to faith, “(Faith) is good for everything—good for the timid to make them strong, good for the rash to make them wise; it is good for those who are desponding to make them brave, and good for those who are too daring, to make them discreet. There is no respect in which faith is not useful to us, therefore, whatever you leave out, see to your faith; if you forget all besides, be careful above all that ye take the shield of faith .” My beloved, Faith can only be contagious when we are open in sharing it with others. My question to all those who hear these words are, “Do you have a Faith that’s Contagious?” If you don’t, find someone who does and be in fellowship with them, and I pray that their warmth and light will infect you.  In Christ Love, douglas.
