I have been told, “Don’t be that way” to which my usual response is “I don’t know how to be any other way.” You see I took a test, it was sort of pass/fail, but the higher the number the bigger the struggle. My ADHD test results rated me at 97%. Many people think I am just rude or disrespectful on purpose because my attention span is short at times and I move from one situation to another without much forethought. There are many emotions and feelings that we as humans deal with every day and sometimes many of us struggle a little more because it is just what it is and we can get caught up dealing with the same emotions for days at a time. For myself, the two inclinations that I battle most are anxiety and lack of focus. For many, when they hear “anxiety”, the first thought that comes to mind is concentrate, repeat what is written in  *Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.* and yet, just reading that verse in the midst of the worst, sometimes changes nothing, it becomes like a mantra that changes nothing, that’s just the way my brain works. There are days for me that the reason that I am anxious is that I cannot focus on what needs to be done, everything is scrambled. I am sure that there are others that struggle in similar ways as well and I want you to know that my heart goes out to you. I have a dear friend that when she saw me spinning out of control one day, simply said to me, “Breathe”. My response was, there is not enough time to breathe, too much to do. Brethren, for all those that are going through something, while in the midst of it, simply pause and “Breathe”, after you breathe, pray, and ask others to pray for you as well, there is great power in that. Also, I would like to share a couple verses that help encourage me when my head is spinning out of control. It is written in *2 Corinthians 12:9 But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me! 10 So for the sake of Christ, I am well pleased and take pleasure in infirmities, insults, hardships, persecutions, perplexities and distresses; for when I am weak [in human strength], then am I [truly] strong (able, powerful in divine strength).* A word to those who love someone who struggles in the variety of ways like I do, instead of condemning them, show that you care, ask a few questions, do a little research, if you really care, find out why they are like they are and what is causing them to struggle in the moment. Come alongside them, help equip them, continually encourage them to live godly lives the best they can. My beloved, may the Holy Spirit guide us all to help those that need strength to endure in the moments for this is one of the greatest acts of love there is. In Christ Love, douglas.
