The single greatest enemy of Christianity, your soul, your family, and the church today is having a lukewarm religion. As we look at the scriptures, Jesus appears at times to be put in the position of affirming the indifferent pagan over the backslidden, half-hearted Christian. Every person lives their life by one of three presuppositions for their faith: (1) there is a God, and He is worth living for, (2) there is not a God, so I live for myself, or (3) there is a God, but I live for myself anyway. My question to all those who are reading this is, have you ever honestly evaluated your life to see what you are passionate about, really looked at it with the genuine intention to know the truth? For many in the world, they put more energy and emotion into work, sports teams, politics, music, and the world around them, than they do with the Creator of all things. I have judged my own life and seen that I fall short quite often, I do not always put my relationship with the Lord Jesus as a priority. My life is busy and I confess that there are days when I spend only a few minutes here and there in the Word, worship, and prayer. I want my desires to be focused on things with eternal value, and on all that God’s desires for my life, but I just don’t all the time. I get distracted with the things of the world and my heart is conflicted as I read what is written in *Revelation 3:15 ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold (invigorating, refreshing) nor hot (healing, therapeutic); I wish that you were cold or hot. 16 So because you are lukewarm (spiritually useless), and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth [rejecting you with disgust]* Jesus knows our works and sees the moral and religious tepidness in the church, a lukewarmness that borders on outright indifference to the things of God and a life of holiness. There are only three certain options for you today – you are hot, or you are cold in which both have purpose for the kingdom, or you are lukewarm. To be lukewarm is hypocritical Christianity with only a form of godliness and loving the pleasures of the world more than the ways of God. I DO NOT want to be lukewarm and yet I know that at times I am. I am thankful for what is written in Revelation 3:19 Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I rebuke and discipline [showing them their faults and instructing them]; so be enthusiastic and repent [change your inner self—your old way of thinking, your sinful behavior—seek God’s will].* When the end of your life comes, what will you regret more when you stand face to face with the Lord Jesus, what you did or what you didn’t do? Will you regret not working more, watching more T.V., spending time with your hobbies, or whatever else you selfishly do that consumes your time, or will it be that you didn’t obey the calling that God gave you and to do the work of ministry for His kingdom? Will the Lord say to you, “You had such potential”? or will you hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant”? Brethren, may the Holy Spirit burn inside each of us so strongly that we can not do anything but PRAISE God with all that we are and live for Him wholeheartedly. If you are a Christian, let Jesus reign in your life today. If you say that you are a “Christian” and are just playing a game, Stop It. Surrender to God today and see how He will help you glorify Him with all that you are. And if you are not a believer, surrender your life today, repent and live forevermore with Him in Heaven. My goal, my battle, is to “change my inner self – my old way of thinking, my sinful behavior and seek God’s will” for my life. My BeLoved, will you stand with me in the battle? In Christ Love, douglas.
