MISSING HEAVEN

I am confident that there are some of you who are reading this, that if you died today, you would miss heaven by 18 inches (the distance between your head and your heart). You may have a mental acknowledgment and understanding of the gospel, have different Bible verses memorized, but your heart has never truly bowed down in complete repentance and obedience to Jesus as Lord. You are those who are written about in *Titus 1:16 They profess to know God [to recognize, perceive, and be acquainted with Him], but deny and disown and renounce Him by what they do; they are detestable and loathsome, unbelieving and disobedient and disloyal and rebellious, and [they are] unfit and worthless for good work (deed or enterprise) of any kind.* If your “will” has not been completely surrendered to “God’s will” for your life and your heart does not truly love the Lord Jesus or long to obey and please Him, something must change if you want to be saved. It is not as difficult as some people make it seem, or it is more difficult than we could ever imagine, as we read what is written in *Romans 10:9 Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.* Charles Spurgeon wrote, “The greatest enemy to human souls is the self-righteous spirit which makes men look to themselves for salvation”. Many of you are putting on a “façade” to everyone in the world and forgetting that God is not of this world, He sees who you truly are, He sees your heart, you are always before an audience of One. Please repent and surrender today before it’s too late. For those who are reading this who are saved, please never forget to pray for those who aren’t, because there was a day when most of you weren’t. I want to close with the words of Brennan Manning, “The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians: who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle.
