When I was a child, I cannot ever remember praying “for” someone else, I was only really concerned about what was going on outside. I never learned the power of God and the importance of prayer until I had my come to Jesus moment when I was thirty-six. I look back over my life from this point and see many different seasons. I look at the examples of some of the people that I have walked with and the impact that they made on my life. I also look at those that have walked with me, before I knew Jesus, and have seen the destruction and chaos that I left in the wake. As a Christian, I desire to see the legacy that I am leaving behind and a little while back I saw a part of it, something amazing. My grand-daughter, Trinytee, was walking and tripped, and as she was falling her forehead went into the wall causing a bump to start to appear. I was not home when this happened so Thieodore, who was six-years-old at the time, called me and said, “Trinytee is hurt, you need to come home right now.” I was only a minute away and when I walked through the door Thieodore ushered me to Trinytee. We got some ice on the bump, some Motrin, but the thing that made me proud was that Thieodore, unprompted, stopped everyone, put his hands on Trinytee and prayed, “Heavenly Father, please help Trinytee, in Jesus’ name, Amen.” I pray that the example that I have laid down continues in the lives of not only my children but all of my grandchildren as well, not only in their prayer life but in every aspect of their faith. I pray often about what is written in Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], Even when he is old he will not depart from it. There is no greater legacy that I can think of to leave behind than one of a child who has faith, trust in, relies on, and clings to Jesus, and is also confident that when they pray to God to expect answers. Praise God for little children who remind us what true, pure, and honest faith looks like. FYI, Trinytee recovered and the wall was not damaged in the event, lol. In Christ Love, douglas
