For any who do not know, in December of 2017, the Lord led me to quit my job and go back to school for Social Work and Substance Use Disorder. Part of the reason it was those two areas of study was that I saw a need in the world around me, and I was an expert in substance abuse. It was 7 years ago today that was my first day back in college after being away from it for almost 30 years. Going back to higher education was not something I ever expected to do at the age of 53. One of the neat things about having technology in the modern era was a website called “rate my professor,” as I needed a writing 102 class and the teacher that I found was using old school comic books as our reading material. In every one of the 20 classes that I was in, I was able to share Jesus with many of my classmates and even my teachers. The verse that encouraged me to continue is written in *Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.* and desired others to see my good works and glorify my Father in heaven. I would like to thank all of those who supported me in that time emotionally, spiritually in prayer, and financially in one form or another. The mission field was open and it seemed as if the workers were really few. I ask that you all continue to pray for me as my current assignment is to minister to those active as the children’s therapy providers and support staff. This is not only where I am able to minister, but my whole family to the youngest in our home, my grandson who is seven as well. May God continue to give us more boldness and direction, help us be able to focus on homeschooling all four children and the ministry entrusted to us in all that we do. May God help us take the words to heart written in *Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”* That is how we as a family are trying to live and praying that all who read these words are striving for that as well. Grace and peace my beloved. In Christ Love, douglas
