Words have power, power to hurt and power to heal, power to build up and power to tear down, power to encourage and power to destroy. The way that a person talks shows their heart not only before men but before Almighty God. It is written in *Luke 6:45 The upright (honorable, intrinsically good) man out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart produces what is upright (honorable and intrinsically good), and the evil man out of the evil storehouse brings forth that which is depraved (wicked and intrinsically evil); for out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart his mouth speaks.* It seems uncommon, almost weird, that someone can carry on a conversation these days without using any vulgarity. In the scriptures we are instructed what to say and not to say. It is written in *Ephesians 4:29 Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak].* I have learned through experience to chew on my words before I spit them out. I do that in prayer, by taking them before God, and in doing that my hope is that every word I say gives light to someone in our dark world, and hope to the broken and downcast. I am convicted by  what is written in *Matthew 12:36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”* Brethren, to build someone up takes love, concern and genuine care. The words that you speak, may even be just the right words to save someone’s life or cause deep despair. A few of the most important words we can ever say are also the simplest, Jesus Loves You and I Love You Too! I know personally, that hearing those words at one of the most difficult times of my life helped me make it through a horrible moment, and because of those words, I am alive to encourage others with those same words. From my heart to yours, to all who read these words, Jesus Loves You and I Love You Too! In Christ Love, Douglas.
