Prior to becoming a “Born Again” believer, many parts of the Bible were nothing more to me than chants or mantras that I remember saying in the religion that I grew up in. To me, the words that we spoke every week were nothing different than nursery rhymes, like “Mary had a little lamb” or “Twinkle, twinkle little Star.” Since becoming a follower of the Lord Jesus, I look at the words of scripture a lot differently, I see the personal relationship involved in them that I have never experienced in any other book, such as those written in Psalms 23. I saw this breakdown and wanted to share it with any who are willing to take the time to read it. “The Lord is my Shepherd – That’s Relationship! I shall not want – That’s Supply! He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. – That’s Rest! He leadeth me beside the still waters. – That’s Refreshment! He restoreth my soul – That’s Healing! He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness. – That’s Guidance! For His name sake – That’s Purpose! Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. – That’s Testing! I will fear no evil. – That’s Protection! For Thou art with me – That’s Faithfulness! Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me, – That’s Discipline! Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies. – That’s Hope! Thou anointest my head with oil, – That’s Consecration! My cup runneth over. – That’s Abundance! Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. – That’s Blessing! And I will dwell in the house of the Lord. – That’s Security! Forever! – That’s Eternity!” This Psalm is one of many scriptures that gives me peace, the promises that we can have hope in. What I have come to understand is that the Lord is “MY” Shepherd. “He” lets me lie down, “He” leads, “He” refreshes, “He” restores, “He” is with us, “He” protects, “He” prepares, “He” anoints, “He” does all the work, we just need to surrender to His Lordship. We all will face hardship, pain, suffering and eventually death if Jesus does not come back soon, but as believers, no matter what happens to us, God will be with us, even in the valley of the shadow of death for His word is truth. My BeLoved, looking forward to seeing you soon, see you here, there, or in the air. Maranatha, Come Quickly Lord Jesus.
