A little while back I shared about a friend that I went to school with a few years ago who had reached out to me. They said that they needed some advice on some things and they had a few questions. I wasn’t sure about what, but I felt compelled to invest the time to find out. There was good conversation about what has been going on in our lives and then came the real talk, “What does it take to be a Christian?” That night after sharing the Love of God through the scriptures, they accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. Well a few days later they received a Bible, it had a purple cover with flowers. They were very excited. When they came to pick up the Bible they had a friend along for the ride with them. I wrote about how their friend stated that they were a “Christian” but from the words of their mouth, they were without much depth in their relationship with Jesus. Well yesterday my friend took another big step, they were baptized. This time they invited a different friend to attend and because of the faith of my friend, I was able to present the Love of God to their friend, to which they responded and came to Christ. I pray quite often as to if I am actually doing what I am supposed to be doing for the kingdom. As I read the scriptures, especially the words of the Lord Jesus, I am convicted over verses like what is written in *John 4:34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. 35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!* Some will till the ground, some will plant, some will harvest, most will do nothing. My friends, I plead with you to make a decision today to do something, anything for the kingdom, lives depend upon it. A harvest of one will usually produce a second, and then a third and so on. Let us stay focused on the ones and see how quickly they multiply. There are times when I seem to do everything else except the will of the Father when it comes to the harvest mostly because of my own fear, doubt, and more importantly pain. Charles Spurgeon said, “Growth can be painful, change can be painful but nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong.” To make the acceptance of Jesus is easy, but what about the change? There is an old song that comes to mind for all those that say the words but are not sure how life should be next, by Steven Curtis Chapman called “The Change.” “Well I’ve got this way of thinking, that comes so naturally / Where I believe the whole world is revolving around me / And I got this way of living that I have to die to every single day / ‘Cause if God’s Spirit lives inside of me, yeah / I’m gonna live life differently / What about the change? / What about the difference? / What about the grace? / What about forgiveness? / What about a life that’s showin’ I’m undergoin’ the change?” There is a simple prayer that I have been praying every day since becoming a Christian, and as I read the Word, there are some days when the pain seems unbearable at times, but I continue to pray it because I am confident that the outcome will be worth it, “God, change me into the likeness of Your Son by the power of Your Holy Spirit, Amen” pastord.blog
