What do you think gets more attention, likes and comments, the things of God or the ways of the world? As I share the scriptures and encouraging pictures, then see what others post, Christian and pagan alike, I see that hundreds of people will pay attention to something sexually explicit or political that catches their eye, rather than read a two minute devotional about living the Christian life. There are certain verses that should scare most people and yet according to a recent poll, a majority of Christians (57%) say sex between unmarried adults in a committed relationship is sometimes or always acceptable. It is written in *1 Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.* This list is composed of people who are actively practicing these sins. So what are we as Christians to do? How are we to respond when put to the test to sin? It is written in *1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.* My friends, stand strong, the battle is fierce, you are not alone. I pray that those of you who claim to be Christian and are living in willful disobedience to God’s word comprehend what is written in *Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.* The dangerous thing about going outside of God’s will to get something is that you will have to stay outside of His will to keep it, and for that there could be eternal consequences that end in disaster. Beloved, fulfill your calling by obedience to God’s word and I pray you understand that there is a difference between living in intentional sin, actually practicing sin, than having a sexual indiscretion. Neither is right but one is worse.
